climbsAscents: Tiegemberg, Nokereberg, Rekelberg, Kaperij, Kruisberg, Knokteberg, Oude Kwaremont, Paterberg, Koppenberg, Steenbeekdries, Taaienberg, Eikenberg, Molenberg, Leberg, Valkenberg, Tenbosse, Muur van Geraardsbergen, Bosberg

The Race: After a race of non-stop aggression in which Fabian Cancellara looked to have made a successful escape, Cancellara was caught and a small group of favorites came together just before the final climb, the Bosberg, with about 12 km to go. Philippe Gilbert took off on the climb but after doing the time-trial of his life, was chased down by a group of 12 with about 6 km to go. At about 3km to go Cancellara gave it another go and got clear with Sylvain Chavanel (who had been active most of the race) and Nick Nuyens. Cancellara led it out but ran out of gas before the line. Nuyens took the sprint after it looked like Chavanel had to slow down as Cancellara crowded him.
