2014 Off-Season and start of 2015 Race Reporting
We're in the off-season and again for now, I've chosen not to report cyclo-cross results. All remaining 2014 UCI road races are ranked below our usual threshold of 1.1 or 2.1.
I don't make consistancy one of my mind's little hobgoblins, that area is quite crowded as it is. So, we'll start reporting race results on January 2, 2015, with the Michelton Bay Cycling Classic. Here are the promoter's race details.
From there, I'll report the People's Choice Classic (Australia) on the 19th. From there, Argentina's Tour de San Luis (2.1) starting on the 20th will be next. The Santos Tour Down Under Under (World Tour) beginning the next day (January 21) will make for an exciting and crowded start to the season.
I'll keep the news section updated and I'll also work on adding to photo galleries, rider histories and other features. In case you missed it, here's our latest, an extended discussion (with lots of photos) of cycling's greatest climbers.
Both Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana for Froome?
When the 2015 Tour de France route with its heavy emphasis on climbing was unveiled, 2013 TDF winner Chris Froome was at first reluctant to commit to riding the French national tour. A piece about him on the Team Sky web site was still a bit non-committal, but it looks like we may see Froome on the start line for the Tour de France. Reading between the lines, I'm guessing Froome will be on the Tour's startline in Utrecht on July 4 and go for the rare Tour-Vuelta double.
Two riders have achieved the Tour-Vuelta double:
Jacques Anquetil in 1963 and Bernard Hinault in 1978.
