Chris Hoy: Katie Archibald could win three golds at Tokyo

Britain's most successful Olympian, Chris Hoy, believes that Katie Archibald could win three Olympic medals at Tokyo 2020.
Hoy is tied with Jason Kenny on six golds, and believes Scotland's Archibald could be on course to win half that amount in Japan.
She currently holds one gold medal following her win in the women's team pursuit in Rio three years ago.
Hoy said of the 25-year-old cyclist: “In Tokyo, Katie, depending on who gets selected for what event, could have a great shout at winning three gold medals.
“If she gets selected for three events, she could potentially win three gold medals. That would be absolutely massive.”
Hoy believes that Archibald could compete in the team pursuit again, with spots up for grabs in the madison and omnium as well. She holds the 2017 omnium world title, and the 2018 world gold. Laura Kenny is a potential teammate for the madison.
“[If] it’s Laura Katie races with in the madison, they’re the two strongest endurance riders in the world,” Hoy said.
“If Katie gets the nod for the omnium, she could do well in that and in the team pursuit, they have all of the right pieces of the jigsaw, they just need to put it together on the day. So I have complete confidence that they will do very well in the team pursuit.”

Taichung Bike Week 2020 dates clash with Eurobike

TAICHUNG, Taiwan – Are they looking for an outright confrontation; or does it only seem that way and are the very early 2020 Taichung Bike Week dates prompted by what is now common practice in America; delivering the first series of the new model year in the middle of the sales season? Fact is that the organizers have set the dates for Taichung Bike Week 2020 so early that they are more or less conflicting with next year’s Eurobike schedule.
The question of whether Taichung Bike Week (TBW) looks to be after a confrontation with Eurobike is triggered by the way the Friedrichshafen show is changing. Eurobike is transforming from a dealer to an industry show. That was strongly reflected by last September’s 28th Eurobike. With that it is becoming a direct competitor of Taichung Bike Week.
The growing competition between the two events is triggered by the fact that Eurobike 2019 attracted less dealers. This is the result of an even increasing number of leading bike brands which are no longer taking part in the Friedrichshafen show. By organizing their own shows for dealers they apparently get a better return on their marketing euros. However, this did not result in the fact that these leading brands ignored Eurobike altogether. The staff of those brands were there in big numbers last September. Especially their marketing, product and procurement managers. Together with representatives of the smaller brands as well as wholesalers and distributors, made it that Eurobike did not lose its relevance.
Taichung Bike Week is also targeting that audience of product and procurement managers. And expects that they will travel in big numbers to Taichung just two weeks after Eurobike 2020. Because that’s how near the 2020 dates of the two events are. Eurobike is taking place from 2 to 5 September and Taichung Bike Week from 22 to 25 September 2020.
