Wednesday, January 18: Lobethal - Sterling, 149 km

Back to 2012 Tour Down Under

Stage winner Clarke broke away with Martin Kohler in the first kilometer. The duo built up an 11-minute lead before Kohler dropped back to the peloton after having won enough bonus seconds to become the GC leader. Clarke continued as the pack could not get organized, winning a World Tour stage.
