Stage 1 | Stage 2 | Stage 3

Sunday, March 28: Stage 3, Porto Vecchio 7.7 Individual Time Trial

The Race: Stage winner David Millar had this to say: "It felt really good. I really enjoyed it. I spoke to Christian Vande Velde, he’s been coaching me over the last few days. Christian sent me a message, he said: Remember what we talked about, controlled panic. I felt really bad yesterday. Today I feel great. Christian was advising, actually, because I tend to overanalyze my stuff. Just ride with controlled panic, so that’s what I did. It’s why I rode like a bat out of hell, and didn’t think about it. I just ran hard. Thanks to my size and my aerodynamics, it’s hard for people to go faster than me, when it’s going fast downhill with a tailwind and I used that to my advantage."

Overall winner Pierrick Fedrigo might be a bit hard to live with after the biggest victory of his career: "I’m very happy. It’s not like winning the Tour for the Tour is another dimension. But the Critérium International was the biggest race so far this season in terms of the quality of the field and I’m proud. I now want to go even higher and do well in the Ardennes classics. I’m 31, eleven years as a pro, and I still don’t know my limits. I keep surprising myself a bit."

Saturday, March 27: Stage 1, Porto Vecchio - Col de l'Ospedale, 175.5 km.

The Race: Pierrick Fedrigo shocked the cycling world with a superb win at the top of the Col del'Ospedale. Both Alberto Contador and Lance Armstrong suffered amazing failures on the ascent. Armstrong struggled, ending up over 5 minutes down on GC to winner Fedrigo. Armstrong's comment was succinct: "My day was not very spectacular."

Contador's failure was ascribed by some as the result of bonking. An Astana spokesman said Contador was suffering badly from allergies and had trouble breathing. In any case, it was a day of surprises. There are 2 stages on Sunday, the second stage being an individual time trial.
