Unfortunately for him Contador, with Rodriguez on his wheel, saw a chance to gain time on Andy Schleck.

Behind them Van den Broeck (with Schleck on his wheel) was working to limit his losses.

Schleck held Contador to just a 10-second time gain.

Andreas Kloden was one of the day's main animators.

Cadel Evans and Ivan Basso were a bit further back.

Rodriguez was the faster man.

Vinokourov comes in third, sacrificed by Contador in the search for a GC time gain.

Van Den Broeck leads in Schleck, Sanchez (orange, hidden) and Kloden.

Brajkovic leads in the Armstrong group a few minutes later. That should be Sandy Casar on the far left.
