Near the end Tony Martin tries to get Simon Clrke to go to the front, but Clarke is having none of it.
Further back, the gorup with Rodriguez, Froome and Contador is working hard to stay away from the Valverde group.
Eros Capecchi and Alejandro Valverde are desperate to get up to Froome and Contador, but can't do it.
Steve Morabito gives a go, but is quickly reeled in.
