Weather at the finish city of San Benedetto del Tronto at 1:20 PM, local time: 14C (58F), cloudy, with the wind from the east at 10 km/hr (6 mph). There is a 9% chance of rain.
The race: Here's the report from stage winner Jonathan Milan's Team Lidl-Trek.
Jonathan Milan claimed his second stage win at the race of two seas in San Benedetto del Tronto and takes home Ciclamino jersey.
Five days after his first victory in this edition of Tirreno-Adriatico, Jonathan Milan once again tasted the sweet taste of success. The race of the two seas had not been smooth sailing for the Italian fast man, who had to overcome a crash and stomach discomfort earlier in the week. On the seventh and final stage, Lidl-Trek made sure Milan would have the chance to seek victory again. Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier set the pace before Toms Skujins chased down attacks, ready for Milan’s well-oiled leadout train to take over for the finish.
The various classification jersey owners are lined up in front as the final stage is about to start.
Milan benefitted from a friendly pull from compatriot Filippo Ganna, before Edward Theuns took to the front, leading Milan within sight of the finish line. As Theuns swung off, Milan powered into the open air and held off a challenge from Sam Bennett to win by a wheel-length. As well as celebrating the stage win, Milan’s victory also earned the Ciclamino jersey.
Almost at the gun Mathieu van der Poel was in a break with Kévin Vauquelin (Arkéa-B&B Hotels), Lucas Hamilton (Ineos Grenadiers), Bjoern Koerdt (Team Picnic PostNL) and Manuele Tarozzi (VF Group-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè).
Jonathan Milan: “I’m super happy with this second win in Tirreno, I have to say always thanks to my teammates, they did a perfect leadout. It was a bit tough, also in the climbs, and I have to say that I suffered a bit, but I made it through to the finish line and I’m happy. I have to say sorry that Jasper [Stuyven] who crashed in the final, and I hope nobody [involved] is really bad. All in all it was a really good Tirreno, I’m really happy that we achieved this second victory after the crash that I had some days ago, and the last two days that were not so easy for me in the climbs. I’m happy, and now we will see.”

Weather at the finish town of Frontignano at 1:45 PM, local time: 12C (53F), partly cloudy, with the wind from the southwest at 18 km/hr (11 mph). There is a 5% chance of rain, growing to 12% at 4:00 PM.
The race: Bram Welten (Team Picnic PostNL) and Gianluca Brambilla (Q36.5) did not start.
Just seconds after crossing the finish line, stage winner and new Maglia Azzurra Juan Ayuso shared his thoughts: “Everything worked really well today. The team did an excellent job. We knew we had to make the race hard. There was quite a bit of wind, and staying on the wheel helped save a lot of energy, so I’m glad I had [Isaac] Del Toro with me. He really made me suffer sitting on his wheel. When I attacked, I knew I had to hold my pace all the way to the top. I struggled a bit in the final kilometer, but I’m really happy I pulled it off“.
Here's the race report from fourth-place Mikel Landa's Team Soudal Quick-Step:
Mikel Landa was one of the riders who made an impressive jump in the general classification of the Italian race at the end of stage six, which finished atop Frontignano, a 7.1km climb whose gradients reached and exceeded 10%, enough to change the standings going into the last day of the race.
The Basque started this stage that featured 3500 meters of vertical gain in 16th place, but was one of the strongest out there when the fireworks began with four kilometers to go, and thanks to a solid display he soared to seventh – which puts him on track for what would be his 23rd top ten finish in a World Tour stage race.

Once Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates) went clear from an already depleted peloton, a small chasing group formed behind him, and Mikel was one of the three riders there, whose goal was to limit the gap to the Spaniard while putting some daylight into those trying to bridge across. Soudal Quick-Step’s experienced climber dosed his effort smartly and finished the stage in fourth position, just 15 seconds behind his countryman, the new leader of Tirreno-Adriatico.
\“We were close the entire time to Ayuso, who was the strongest today and the main favourite for victory, and this was encouraging. It wasn’t an easy climb and it was important to be in a good position, that’s why I want to thank the guys, they worked hard the whole day and took good care of me. On the climb, I just tried to do my best and I am happy with my result, especially as this is my first stage race of the season”, said Landa, who is joined in the general classification top ten by teammate Mattia Cattaneo.

Weather at the finish city of Pergola at 1:15 PM, local time: 17C (62F), partly cloudy, with the wind from the southwest at 34 km/hr (21 mph). There is a 8% chance of rain, rising to 62% at 4:00 PM.
The race: All 155 riders who finished stage four were on today's start line.
Here's the report from GC leader Filippo Ganna's Team INEOS Grenadiers:
Filippo Ganna retained the overall lead at Tirreno-Adriatico for a fifth day in a row, bouncing back from a late mechanical issue following another attacking performance.
Ganna heads into the final two stages with a lead of 22 seconds over Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates - XRG) and was again full of riding on the run into Pergola.
Managing his efforts over the final two climbs, Ganna accelerated hard following the final summit and stretched the race on the run-in. His late momentum was snapped however following an issue which caused him to change bike. The three-kilometre rule however ensured that he held on to his overall advantage.
At the finish it was the breakaway who prevailed, with Fredrik Dversnes (Uno-X Mobility) timing his efforts superbly to narrowly fend off the pack.
Laurens De Plus moved up to seventh overall, 45 seconds back on his teammate, after benefitting from some great work from the INEOS Grenadiers. The team helped control the tempo for much of the day across a lengthy 205km test.
Salvatore Puccio again got through a lot of work, before Lucas Hamilton and Connor Swift but the hammer down heading into the final 60km.
Sadly Michal Kwiatkowski was forced to abandon the race as he continues to recover from a crash at Strade Bianche.

Weather at the finish city of Trasacco at 1:40 PM, local time: 13C (55F), partly cloudy, with the wind from the southwest at 16 km/hr (10 mph). There is a 38% chance of rain. Before the stage start the race organizer wrote: "Right now in Norcia, the weather is unstable, with rain coming and going. Riders are currently going through pre-stage operations, dressed warmly and prepared for the challenging conditions ahead."
The race: Here's the report from stage winner Olav Kooj's Team Visma | Lease a Bike:
Olav Kooij has won the fourth stage of Tirreno-Adriatico. The Dutch sprinter proved to be the strongest in the finishing straight from a reduced group, after harsh weather conditions and echelons dictated the race all day long.

On paper, the stage profile was not particularly tough, but the conditions certainly made it so. Team Visma | Lease a Bike briefly took control on the second and final climb of the day, but shortly after, echelons turned the race upside down.
At first, things didn’t look good for Team Visma | Lease a Bike, with only Cian Uijtdebroeks in the front group. Simon Yates and Kooij, among others, fought their way back in a second group, gritting their teeth to bridge the gap.
Stage 4 gets rolling.
After the regrouping, a short-lived attack by three riders failed to create a surprise, setting up a reduced bunch sprint for the win. Kooij launched his sprint like a jack-in-the-box and held off fellow Dutchmen Rick Pluimers and Mathieu van der Poel. It marked his third victory of the year and the sixth win of the season for his team.
“I gave it my all today”, Kooij said after the finish. “Initially, everything went according to plan. Thanks to the pace set by my teammates, I was able to survive the climbs. Then, on the flat, I got caught off guard by the echelons. In those moments, I was torn between hope and despair—one moment, I thought we would make it back, and the next, I was losing confidence.”

Ultimately, Kooij, Yates, and their companions managed to rejoin the front. “At that point, I switched my mindset. I’m really happy. I had a slight dip in form recently, but now I’m feeling good again. The goal was to win a stage in this race, and we’ve done that. That gives me a lot of confidence”, Kooij said with a smile.
“This was a really tough day”, Uijtdebroeks added. “I felt good on the climbs, but when INEOS started the echelons, it was all hands on deck. I managed to stay up there, and luckily, the other guys made it back. In the end, we even won the stage with Olav. It was total chaos today, but as a team, we had a perfect day.”

Weather at the finish city of Colfiorito at 1:05 PM, local time: 9C (48F), rain, with the wind from the southwest at 14 km/hr (10 mph). The rain is forecast to continue through the afternoon. Late in the stage the riders were riding in heavy rain.
The race: Xabier Azparren (Q36.5 Pro Cycling) & Alberto Bettiol (XDS Astana) did not start. Midway into the stage Pascal Ackermann (Israel-Premier Tech) abandoned. After crashing Hugo Houle (Israel-Premier Tech) abandoned.
Here's the report from second-place Tom Pidcock's Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team:
It was day three of the Tirreno Adriatico when the predicted bad weather hit the peloton. It was the longest stage of the week with 239 kilometers between Follonica and Colfiorito. Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team started the day with six riders because Xabier Mikel Azparren didn’t take the start due to a concussion after a late crash on stage two.
A rainy day in Italy.
Several breakaways went up the road but it would come down to the final climb to Colfiorito. After 18,4 kilometers of climbing at only 3% average the peloton was still rather large with four kilometers to go. Tom was attentive in the attacks that went but also positioned well in the eventual bunch sprint that followed in the end. He finished in second place behind Andrea Vendrame.
Tom Pidcock said after the finish: “It was definitely a day to remember with almost seven hours in the rain. Then it becomes a day where it’s a lot about survival. I am really happy that, one, our Q36.5 clothing kept us warm and dry and second, that the guys did a really great job in getting me in the right position for that final climb. It was a bit more of a race up there than I thought. In the sprint I found an opening but I was a little far back. In the end it’s a nice second place and I take some bonus seconds too.”
By taking six bonus seconds today Tom Pidcock moves up to 19th place in the general classification. David De La Cruz who finished in the bunch with Pidcock, currently sits in 12th position with more challenging stages to come.
The Tirreno Adriatico continues on Thursday with a 190-kilometer long stage between Norcia and Trasacco through the Abruzze mountains. It includes two categorized climbs and the highest point of the race at 1,588 meters above sea level at Valico la Crocetta.

Weather at the finish city of Follonica at 1:20 PM, local time: 20C (68F), partly cloudy, with the wind form the south at 16 km/hr (10 mph). There is a 4% chance of rain.
The race: Late in the race David Gaudu (Groupama-FDJ) crashed in a feed zone and had to abandon.

Jonny delivers yet again, bringing his win count to five so far this season! Textbook was the used to describe Lidl-Trek’s lead out on Stage 2 of Tirreno-Adriatico and it was a masterpiece to watch!
Once the stage was underway, it was Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier who was in the spotlight with camera picking up as he set the pace at the front of the peloton, keeping the race under control with ease and making it the bunch sprint in Follonica look inevitable.
The peloton early in the stage. 70 kilometers into the race Manuele Tarozzi (VF Group-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè) is 4min 18sec up the road.
It was a tricky final lap around the finish town but Milan’s impressive sprint train, made up of Toms Skujins, Jasper Stuyven, Edward Theuns and Simone Consonni, managed their effort perfectly and reached every key milestone in the position they planned to at the morning meeting.
With 500 meters to go, Theuns swung off and left Consonni to do what he does best, deliver Milan into the perfect position to unleash his powerful sprint with around 200 meters to go.
The peloton with roughly 90 kilometers to go.

“It was the same finish as last year, and this time we knew exactly how to approach the sprint,” explained a jubilant Jonathan Milan. “We took all the lessons from last year and it was really crucial to be focused in these last kilometers. The guys guided me perfectly, just like we planned. Today was perfect, and I can’t thank them enough for their amazing effort.
: We controlled the race, we stayed at the front, avoided the chaos, and conserved energy. It was important and not super easy, I have to say, in the final to stay together and we wanted to make sure we took some crucial points all together in firs position, and, in the end, we made it happen. At the final turn I thought I was going too fast, but everything went well, as it was planned. The team did a great job, we were always together, especially in the final kilometres. This was a great work made by all the team.”

Weather at the race city of Camaiore at 1:30 PM, local time: 16C (60F), mostly cloudy, with the wind from the southwest at 14 km/hr (9 mph). There is a 3% chance of rain.
The race: James Shaw (EF Education-EasyPost) & Louis Barré (Intermarché-Wanty) did not start. First rider off was Chris Hamilton (Team Picnic-PostNL) at 12:45 PM.
Speaking seconds after the stage finish, the stage winner and first Maglia Azzurra Filippo Ganna said: “I’ve done a very nice TT today so I’m really happy. [Sport director] Dario [Cioni] gave me the indications towards the finish line. With the same time as Juan Ayuso at half way, I was super motivated for the second part. I’ve made quite a big gap there. I’ve trained a lot for this TT and everything else that’s coming up. I did much better than one year ago when I lost by one second. I’m also looking forward to performing in the rest of this Tirreno Adriatico”.

Here's the report from winner Filippo Ganna's Team INEOS Grenadiers:
Filippo Ganna claimed an emphatic victory on the opening stage of Tirreno-Adriatico by 23 seconds. The Italian national time trial champion clocked a winning time of 12 minutes and 17 seconds in Lido di Camaiore to win in impressive fashion.
That effort moved Ganna into the early race lead, pulling on the blue jersey on the podium in the process.
Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates - XRG) and Johan Price-Pejtersen (Uno-X Mobility) rounded out the podium places on the day, 23 and 28 seconds back respectively.
Elsewhere Laurens De Plus got his GC campaign off to a solid start with 15th fastest time on the day, 45 seconds back on his teammate. Brandon Rivera set the 17th best time, bouncing back well from a crash at Strade Bianche.
Reaction:
Filippo Ganna: "It’s a good result in the end. I’m really happy.
"I think I did a really good TT. I really wanted it for this week and for the next month of riding. I’ve been training a lot and finally I’ve started to feel really good on the bike.
"For sure it is much better to get a 26 second gap compared to last year where it was close. It’s really nice. Now I just want to recover well and see what will happen tomorrow on the next stage. The legs feel really good."
